I’ve see this show 12 times and once including Broadway! It has changed my life ❤️ I’m not sure why this show stayed with me but out of the many productions I’ve seen I will always keep returning to Matilda. I 100% recommend to adults and would suggest children aged 6+ as it is quite dark at times. The song writing and script is clever and covers a range of humour for children to adults so pay attention to lyrics !!! Also the set is truly stunning. I saw it open in Manchester the other week and it was lovely to catch up with the cast and see the show again✨Read more →

The show is obviously intended for kids but I think adults can get something out of it as well! Apart from its cheerfulness there are so many layers just in Matilda’s character that can be appreciated and truly understood by adults alone. Same goes for the rest of the characters. The cast is absolutely breathtakingly talented and it carries some of the most memorable songs which you’ll find yourself humming on the tube as you return home. Giving it 3 stars only for the pacing which might result a bit slow at times.Read more →

I saw this in April 2015 (couldn't find date on here). It was such a magical musical. After growing up with the book and the movie and always wanting to be Matilda with her powers and her happy ending it was so nice to see this expansion on her story. The music was amazing and stuck true to the original story. It was fun, funny and emotional. I saw it with my mother and at the time we both agreed it was one of our favourite musicals!Read more →

Tim Minchin's music/lyrics are utterly wonderful - clever, funny and incredibly witty. Choreography is very slick and involves scooters, slides, a pommel horse and swings which leave no room for error.
I often find child actors a bit irritating, but the stage school-y, jazz hands tendencies that irk are definitely not on display here.
The props department have done a great job too. The disappearing chocolate cake is excellent!Read more →

This was my third time seeing the show and I wasn’t disappointed. The talent, energy and utter cuteness of the girls playing Matilda is just on a different level, each child completely blows me away! My favourite character in the show however, is Miss Trunchball; the actors have a perfect mix of impeccable comic timing whilst also being intimidating and terrifying! I would definitely see the show for a fourth time.Read more →

I had been wanting to see this musical for a long time, however I felt like
It didn’t live quite up to the hype, the child actors were excellent, however a part from the well known song numbers (which were incredible) I felt like the rest of the musical, predominantly the dialogue, was a bit of a let down and I often found myself looking at my watch to see how long was left.Read more →

Great show, acting was great, sound quality was poor, like the actors mics were not turned up enough. A little hard to hear them. Of course it’s a child’s show but adults should be more active in keeping their kids quiet during the show, very distracting. Other than things outside of the shows control (noisy active kids) it was a great show. 4 stars over the sound issues.Read more →

a rich and engaging new musical from Tim Munching, and you can certainly hear him. The stage, music and lyrics are all so perfectly suited to each other. This is a great family musical, and definitely one that kids can sit through and not get bored as they utilise cool props and structures (swings, harnesses etc). Though I say that, I went with a friend and we loved it!Read more →

It’s a wonderful musical for all ages as you’ll be able to find something that you can’t help but love! The set is ingenious and works so well with the performance as a whole and the child actors are superfluous. The choreography is tight and the musical numbers work so well, making for a solid feel good atmosphere for the entirety of the duration.Read more →

Amazing!! I actually saw it once before in Australia but this was a very different experience! I had also forgotten most of it so really fascinating to watch again. And my oh my the talent of everyone on stage! My favourite part though was probably when Trunchball took off her jacket and someone in the audience wolf-whistled... brilliant!Read more →

My soul was singing with the performers during the whole play. Came home and realised I was still smiling just like I got a ticket to my childhood. A very beautiful, extremely funny and heartbreaking performance. The actors are amazing and it was a great pleasure to witness such a mix of talent and a hard work. Would love to see it again!Read more →

The show was phenomenal. Unfortunately, I was sitting near some adults that would not quiet their children and that were recording the performance, but they were very sneaky and I do not expect the theater to have been able to stop them. I will definitely be going back to see the show again! Bravo to all the performers!Read more →
