About Matilda The Musical

Matilda The Musical is the multi-award winning musical from the Royal Shakespeare Company, inspired by the beloved book by the incomparable Roald Dahl. With book by Dennis Kelly and original songs by Tim Minchin, Matilda The Musical is the story of an extraordinary little girl who, armed with a vivid imagination and a sharp mind, dares to take a stand and change her own destiny. Winner of seven Olivier Awards and over 90 international awards, including 23 for Best Musical, Matilda continues to delight audiences at London’s Cambridge Theatre.

The Story Unfolds: Origins and Evolution

Matilda The Musical recounts the tale of courageous Matilda, a young girl who uncovers magical abilities to navigate her challenging family dynamics and troublesome teachers.

Life within the confines of her household proves mundane and exasperating, with Matilda's parents showing more interest in television than in her. School provides little respite, with the tyrannical headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, determined to spread misery. However, with the support of her compassionate teacher, Miss Honey, the resourceful Matilda harnesses her unique powers and resolves to outsmart the adults, imparting a valuable lesson along the way!

It’s an unmissable experience of family fun rooting for naughty Matilda. You can book your Matilda The Musical ticket, which is playing at London’s Cambridge Theatre, in the heart of the West End and know it comes highly recommended by audiences and critics alike.
