Chekhov-ish setting with a very Irish development. The house/family can be seen as the society and there you go - religion, superstitions, capitalism, family value and dilemmas. Great acting from everyone, the first half had quite a lot funny bits.Read more →

Increasingly persuasive as it becomes odder and more metaphysical. To a bittersweet drama of an isolated family stuck in dysfunction, the play brings superstitions which are echoes of the faerie past and folk demons plus a recurring (ahem) trope about reincarnation. There is a fabulous moment reminiscent of one of Annie Baker’s quicksilver imaginings of a world suddenly altered but the underlying sadness is of people caught by the need for change but whose options are foreshortened.Read more →
