About Wendy & Peter Pan

Join Wendy on a bold adventure beyond the nursery in Wendy & Peter Pan, a thrilling, witty reimagining of JM Barrie’s classic. With dazzling sets, flying, sword fights and magic, this unmissable family production plays at the Barbican for five weeks only from 21 October – 22 November.

The Story Unfolds: Origins and Evolution

Take flight to Neverland in Wendy & Peter Pan, Ella Hickson’s bold and imaginative retelling of JM Barrie’s classic tale. First performed by the Royal Shakespeare Company in 2013, this gripping adaptation shifts the focus to Wendy, who sets out on a daring journey beyond the safety of the Darling nursery.

As she searches for the child her parents lost and the joy they left behind, Wendy finds that one happy thought can unlock new beginnings. Alongside Peter Pan, Tink and Tiger Lily, she faces off against the fearsome Captain Hook in a moving story about love, loss and the bittersweet magic of growing up. This Wendy & Peter Pan play offers a fresh perspective on a timeless favourite for a new generation.

Behind the Scenes: Crafting the Spectacle

This spellbinding Wendy & Peter Pan London production is directed by Jonathan Munby, with design by Colin Richmond, whose set conjures up everything from London rooftops to the wilds of Neverland.

The role of Captain Hook is played by RSC Associate Artist Toby Stephens, known for Oslo and Hamlet. With thrilling sword fights, flying scenes, and dazzling effects, the production is a visual feast packed with theatrical spectacle. Originally produced by Bunkamura Theatre in Tokyo and Leeds Playhouse, this RSC revival is the high-flying adventure you need this autumn.
